About La Ola Festival Vegano

La Ola Festival Vegano is Mexico's largest plant-based festival, returning for its 7th edition on 18-19 April 2026 at Huerto Roma Verde — the beloved community urban garden and permaculture hub in the Roma Sur neighbourhood of Mexico City. The "Vegan Wave" festival has grown since its 2019 launch into the country's flagship showcase of Mexican plant-based culture, and its home at Huerto Roma Verde gives it a distinct identity no other vegan festival in the Americas can match: this is a festival that takes place in a working garden.

The programming leans into joyful, creative and accessible veganism rather than activist lecturing. Expect dozens of Mexican vegan food vendors serving everything from plant-based tacos al pastor and tamales to jackfruit cochinita pibil, vegan quesabirria, elotes, raw desserts and agua frescas. Beyond food, the two-day event includes flash tattoo artists, talks and panel discussions, hands-on workshops, an ecological products marketplace, natural cosmetics, sustainable clothing, accessories, art, live music, and a robust kids' programming track — part of what makes it Mexico City's default family-friendly plant-based weekend.

Entry is a voluntary donation that benefits animal sanctuaries — the festival's explicit social mission and the reason it exists. That pay-what-you-can model keeps the festival genuinely accessible to chilangos of all incomes and turns donations into real refuge support rather than operational overhead. The festival has partnered across editions with sanctuaries including Milagro Animal and Santuario Tierra de Animales, with specific 2026 beneficiaries announced closer to the date.
