About Vegan Festival Adelaide

Vegan Festival Adelaide is one of the longest-running plant-based festivals in Australia, first staged in 2007 and returning for its 19th edition on 6 December 2026. The festival has settled into Rundle Park / Kadlitpina, a leafy parkland on the eastern edge of Adelaide's CBD — a proper city park with shade trees, open lawns and easy walking access from the main shopping precinct. As a summer-season Adelaide event, December dates mean long daylight hours and the kind of mild pre-Christmas weather that suits an all-day picnic festival.

The format balances around 60 stalls of plant-based food and cruelty-free products with a serious programme of cooking demonstrations, speaker panels and live music. On the food side, expect the full sweep of modern vegan cuisine — Asian street food, plant-based burgers and ribs, raw desserts, artisan cheeses, dairy-free ice cream, cold-pressed juices and specialty coffee. The retail stalls lean into ethical fashion, zero-waste homewares, cruelty-free cosmetics and animal-rescue charities.

The cooking demonstrations are a genuine highlight and draw bigger crowds each year, featuring local chefs and recipe developers showing how to translate vegan principles into everyday family cooking. The speaker programme typically runs across nutrition, activism, plant-based athletics and sustainable living, with Adelaide's strong plant-based medical community well represented. A dedicated Vegan Palooza music stage hosts local vegan musicians throughout the day.

Entry is free and the festival is explicitly family-friendly — the open park setting means kids can run around safely while parents graze, and well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome. The event typically runs from late morning into the early evening, making it a proper all-day affair rather than a quick market browse.
