About Veganmania Wien MQ
Veganmania Wien MQ is the flagship event of the Vegane Gesellschaft Österreich (Austrian Vegan Society) and, by its own description, Austria's largest vegan street food festival. The 2026 edition runs 4–7 June, filling the forecourt of Vienna's MuseumsQuartier at the corner of Mariahilfer Straße, a central Neubau location that puts the festival directly opposite the Leopold Museum and a short walk from Volkstheater U-Bahn. Entry is completely free across all four days, which is part of why the event pulls tens of thousands of Viennese through it.
The schedule is built for maximum accessibility: Thursday 4 June runs 2–10 PM, Friday and Saturday stretch from 10 AM to 10 PM, and Sunday closes out 10 AM–6 PM. Streetfood vendors keep serving until 10 PM on the longer days (stalls close at 9 PM, except Sunday), so it works equally well as a lunchtime stop or an extended evening out. The open-air layout along the MQ promenade means queuing flows easily and picnicking on the nearby Spittelberg cobblestones is a standard move.
The vendor lineup is where Veganmania earns its scale. Expect Austrian vegan classics reworked as street food, schnitzel, käsekrainer, langos, kaiserschmarrn, alongside international cuisine from Turkish, Levantine, Vietnamese, Ethiopian, and Indian vendors, all fully plant-based. Beyond food, stalls cover sustainable fashion, vegan cosmetics, ethical home goods, and Austrian producers of plant-based cheeses, sausages, and chocolates. The Vegane Gesellschaft uses the event as a membership and campaigning platform, so expect NGO presence, information stands, and a visible activist layer underneath the food.
The audience skews broad, vegans and vegetarians, flexitarians, and plenty of curious locals who end up at Veganmania because it sits right on their weekend walking route. It's genuinely family-friendly: the MQ courtyards behind the festival offer shade, seating, and the Zoom children's museum, making it easy to extend into a full Vienna day. For travellers, Veganmania bookends neatly with the Vegane Gesellschaft's other 2026 events: the Wiener Vegan Ball in April, Veganmania Graz in May, and Veganmania Donauinsel in September. Combined, the Austrian Vegan Society's calendar is arguably the most consistent national vegan programming in Europe.
