About Vegan Festival Leipzig
The Vegan Festival Leipzig has become one of eastern Germany's most atmospheric plant-based events, and its charm comes straight from the venue. The festival is hosted at Pittlerwerke, a former tool-and-machine factory complex in the Wahren district that's been slowly reinvented as a creative quarter. Raw brick, exposed steel, graffiti and the restaurant-bar WUEST set the stage, this is the anti-trade-fair: rougher, younger, more DIY than VeggieWorld.
2026 brings two editions. The Spring Edition (#5) runs on 21-22 March 2026, with the Winter Edition scheduled for 14-15 November 2026. Both editions follow the same formula: a vegan street-food and vendor market inside WUEST paired with an outdoor flea market (Flohmarkt) spilling into the courtyards of the Pittlerwerke site.
Expect around 30-50 vendors, heavily weighted toward Leipzig's independent scene, small-batch kombucha brewers, bakeries doing sourdough pizza, burger trucks, Asian-inspired bowls, raw-cake makers, local chocolate, and hot drinks for the inevitable cold snap. The flea market is a mix of second-hand clothes, vintage homewares, zines, vegan skincare and crafts from local makers. Panel talks with exhibitors run through the day, typically short and informal, and live music keeps the WUEST space moving into the evening.
Admission is €5 for the indoor area at the spring edition, with the outdoor flea market free to browse; the winter edition has historically been €3 or free. Organisers explicitly state that accommodations are made for visitors who can't afford the entry fee, a nice touch that reflects the festival's community ethos. Hours are roughly 12:00-20:00 on both days (the December winter edition has run later, until 22:00 on Saturday).
The address is Polyphonstraße 8, 04159 Leipzig, in the Wahren neighbourhood north-west of the city centre. S-Bahn line S3 to Leipzig-Wahren gets you within a 10-minute walk; by tram, line 10 or 11 to Landsberger Straße is also close. Kids are welcome, it's a family-friendly crowd, though there's no dedicated children's programming. Bring cash for the flea market vendors, warm layers (the halls are unheated-industrial), and an appetite: this is probably the best concentration of Leipzig's vegan food scene you'll find in one weekend.
